Day 59 - Playtime, not Nighttime

This isn't sleeping! I'm playing!

A long day and a not very exciting night on the couch catching up on TV Shows.  Finally it's bed time.   As soon as you move to get up he will get up to play! He's in a right playful mood.  Even if it looks like hes sleeping.

It was just one of those nights.

Day 58 - Mushrooms in a Jar

Tiny Clay Mushrooms in a little jar!

I got this at an underground carpark market in Wellington. They had all these amazing small decorations for what I imagine would be used in Dolls Houses and little set-ups like that.

It's made me really tempted to build my own little doll house for Miss A or my own little kiddies when they come along! But, then I remember how terrible I was with all my Barbie houses and shopping malls that my mum would meticulously set out the night before and I (being about 4-6) would go in and play until the sun went down and not clean up after myself.  Mum has always said that it was like a tornado blew through and wrecked the place! I used to have so much fun with it though, but I'm just imagining watching all my hardwork get thrown about.

Anyway, definitely check Blue Star Kiwi out, they have some really funky stuff. This particular piece I'm planning on putting a hole through the lid and turning it into a cute little necklace!

Have you found any awesome things lately?

Day 57 - Night In

Bottle of Sauvigon Blanc on a lovely night in

This is one of my most preferred supermarket wines.  I've never really had the expensive stuff so excuse my taste buds if your a wine connoisseur but I do love this one.  Made in Marlborough, NZ - Shingle Peak is a trusted brand I do enjoy on my nights in, they are occasionally on sale for around $10-$12 a bottle. The glass is from the Auckland Seafood Festival that was on a couple of weeks ago.

Tonight, we planned on a nice wine or two curled up on the couch with an anime we had started watching called Ergo Proxy.  It's not bad, I found it quite confusing to begin with but I got into it as it went on. This was made in 2006 and only has the one season of about 20 episodes.

What do you plan on your nights in?  A soothing bubble bath, a wine and some candles? That sounds like a plan...

Day 56 - Red and White

Some Fake Flowers on a White background.

Back home and back to work, not much to take photos of which is a shame.  Hoping to start doing more interesting things in the evenings!  Got to enjoy the end of summer while it lasts!

What are your thoughts on doing a 'themed' week/month?  I'm trying to find more inspiration in my photos but I'm having trouble on days where there isn't much going on.

Day 55 - Resting Sparrow

Botanic Gardens - Wellington NZ

This snap was actually taken the day before while we were in Wellington on our walk back from the Cable Car.

I didn't have anything overly interesting for today and I loved this photo a lot so decided what the heck! I might as well use it.

Its amazing how smoothly these little sparrows can land on small branches like this. Sparrows are one of my favourite birds, mostly because of how little they are and how quick they can move.  Also they're fun to feed in mid-air! Just throw a piece of bread up a little higher and watch them dive for it.

Fed any animals lately?
One I think I should feed more often is my fish... I best go do that now before I forget!

Day 54 - Cable Car Fun

Cable Car - Wellington, NZ

Day 2 in Wellington was lots of fun, got picked up from the hotel by a lovely friend (although she wasn't in uniform which I was disappointed about.  Really wanted to get a photo of her!).

We went to the food market down on the wharf and then headed off up to the cable car and botanic gardens!  I love cable cars, we should get some in Auckland! Going up Queen street maybe? We followed the trail through the Botanics back to the city and the gardens are beautiful! I think we should have taken our time through it but there's always next time.

I can't wait to go back and spend some more time exploring this city!

Day 53 - VWROP VWROP

Tardis Dress! Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular - Wellington, NZ

So I'm cheating a little bit with this photo, as you can tell I'm the subject and not actually taking the photo.  This summed up my day so well that I couldn't use anything else!

Taken by the BF of me twirling on the waterfront after the show in Wellington!  To any Whovians out there, this was an absolutely amazing show and if it ever comes back its a definite must!  You can count on me to be there!

The Symphony was brilliant, the costumes were amazing and Peter Davidson was Fantastic!

It was also great to catch up with family and friends while I was down in Wellington!

To see a photo of the front of my Tardis Dress, read more!

Day 52 - Tardis!

Tardis Cookie Jar, Home, NZ

I don't think I have mentioned how much of a Doctor Who fan I am on this, and if I have already you're going to have to excuse the next couple of posts.

This is my Tardis Cookie Jar, given to me by a couple of dear friends for my birthday a couple of years ago (or was it last year? I'm losing track of time!). Although it doesn't actually hold any cookies in it, it does hold center stage in my who themed cubby.

The reason I am posting this is that on the 22nd of Feb I will be attending the Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular in Wellington and I am so excited that I just have to post something Who related today!  Look out for my Tardis Dress tomorrow!

Do you have any collections for TV Shows/Movies etc?

I'm posting this late (several days late as you are aware!) so excuse the back dating language, but yes, do look out for the post for the 22nd and my Tardis dress!

Day 51 - Colourful Pillows

My Favourite Pillow, Home, NZ

I've been doing a lot of my favourite things recently, mainly because I haven't really been out and about much.

This is another buy from Ikea and I really love the colours and the material of this pillow. I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing when it comes to home decor.  I normally buy anything that catches my eye but I'm trying to buy pieces now that tie a room together.  This one tied in nicely with the colours in the lounge, plus I have a thing for pillows and had to have it!

Someone please bring Ikea to NZ! I don't want to just buy the small stuff that will fit into my 23kg luggage!

The upload has done something funny again with the photo, but I'm not sure how to fix it.  I've tried uploading it several different times! Anyone else ever had this problem?

Day 50 - Souvenirs

Souvenirs from my Europe Trip

These are 2 of my smaller souvenirs I got during my trip to Europe last year.  I've managed to find a place for them in my Crafts/Computer room and I'm so glad that I did!

Clearly on the right is the Eiffel Tower from Paris, France, and on the left is a small Blarney Castle from Cork, Ireland.

While I didn't kiss the blarney stone at the top of the Castle I did get a look at the amazing history of the Castle.  Ireland has so much culture and history, as does France.  It always amazes me that the Eiffel Tower was a temporary structure that was intended to be removed decades ago, plus the views are amazing!

I love both of these and the reminders of what we did while in Europe.

Do you have any favourite souviners?

Day 49 - Venice Masquerade

Venice Mask

I posted a photo of my red, lace and feather mask earlier, Day 44. This is my other mask, this one I actually got in Venice, home of the Venetian Carnival Masks.

It was just a cheapish one from one of those tourist shops they have all around the Piazza San Marco. In between feeding the pigeons, exploring the city and eating divine food, I knew I had to get a mask from here! I thought about getting one of the full face masks, but I've always preferred the eye masks better and just loved the look of this one.

I don't know how legit it is, but it did come stamped with "MADE IN ITALY" and I know there are strict rules around who can put that on their things.  Either way I love the look of this mask and hope one day I can go back and enjoy more of Italy and maybe go to a carnival!

Day 48 - Bright Flowers

Flowers, Glen Innes, Auckland NZ

This was just another quick snap of some flowers on my way home from work.  We have some nice blooms along the street I walk to get to work.  It's always nice walking to work in the summer.

Day 47 - Favourite Things

Some of my favourite things.

We are renters. Theres certain things we can and can't do in our house due to the fact that it isn't actually ours.

We aren't allowed to change the coat of paint, update handrails, add a garden or put in picture frame hooks.  If we want any of these things done we need written approval from the landlord and he will be the one to do the things.

So, all my favourite pictures, paintings and posters are currently sitting on the top of my bookcase as I can't really be bothered going through the process of getting him to come over and put up hooks for them.

These are some of my favourites.

The left is a copy of a canvas drawing one of my bestfriends did of 'us' in 2006. Theres actually 3 of us in it, Rainbow, Murray and KM. Originally done by Murray copied by Rainbow and sitting on KMs shelf. A year later Murray passed away.

The middle is a print I got from an artists booth during a convention for an art and design thing.  Done by Michael Kennedy and I absolutely love it. Check him out on here.

The right is actually a postcard of Daleks from Doctor Who.  I got this on my trip to Europe last year when we went to the Doctor Who Experience in Cardiff. Seriously worth going to if you ever get the chance and you're a fan of Doctor Who!

Let me know what your favourite things are x

Day 46 - Botanic Playtime

Botanic Gardens - Auckland, NZ

This was a beautiful day and what better way to spend it then by hanging out at the Botanic Gardens.

I love the Gardens, there's just so much to look at and enjoy.  Even when you're as young as Miss A you can still find enjoyment in a place like this! Example A, her running through the trickly water.  Shes also holding onto a bag of seeds/corn to feed the ducks.

So much fun to be had in a garden x

Day 45 - Fresh Air

Eastern Beach - Auckland, NZ

Happy (belated) Valentines Day everyone!

This was taken on my Birthday, the 14th of Feb, also commonly recognised as Valentines Day. The day of love and romance.

I'm not really that into Valentines Day anymore, I'd much rather celebrate my birthday and I did!

Spent the morning hunting round the house for the presents the BF had hidden, made myself an omelete (YUM!) watched a couple of movies all snuggled up in my duvet on the couch.  Then got myself ready and headed off to Howick for some drinks and nibbles with Mum.

Met Michael after work and headed down to Eastern Beach for a short stroll and the scenery.

I hope you and your loved ones got up to some lovey dovey things this year! But don't forgot you can still show them that love all year round! ;)

Day 44 - Feathers and Lace

Masquerade Mask

The Finer details of a masquerade mask.  I wore this to a friends 21st a couple of years ago.  That was a fun night.

These days it normally hangs up on my Memory Board which has a few select things I like to look at from previous years.

I loved the lace detailing on this mask and I would definitely love to wear this again.

Day 43 - Rope

Casanovas Scratching Pole

You should see this pole now, its pretty torn to shreds from all his scratching.  This is from when it was brand new, nice and tidy rope curling round the post.  Hardly any frays.

Now its just a pulled apart mess. It's done its job.  Luckily he has also outgrown it and we needed to by a bigger one anyway.

Upwards and onwards!

Day 42 - Lights and All

Our Hallway Lights

Can you tell I'm struggling with things to photograph? This is actually a lot harder to do then I first imagined.

I am loving the new house though. Honest :)

Cas is starting to get fascinated by these lights as well.  He keeps sitting on the banister next to the stairs and looking at the lights like he's going to take a flying leap any second.  Luckily he hasn't yet, and I hope he doesn't!

Day 41 - Old School Drawers

Second-Hand Drawers with that Old School Feel

Not much to say about this one.  We got given some extra drawers for the new house, since we now have so many rooms! Need to fill them with something, right?!

I quite liked the colour on these, but I don't know if its because of the rustic feel of them.  I think they will make a nice DIY project in the future.

Day 40 - Bubbles

Backyard Bubbles

One of the most exciting things about our new place is the fact we now have a backyard!! Its not very big, but it is all ours!

Previously we have been living in apartments, so there was no where for Miss A to run around when she was staying with us.  On her first weekend here we definitely took advantage of the new space.

The bubble machine came out and laughter was had all round.

I can't wait to utilise this space more.  It's a shame we're half way through summer all ready!

To save you guys getting spammed with lots of posts all at once, I'm going to limit it to 3 photos a day until I get back up to date. Hope you all have been well the last couple of weeks! Let me know below what you've been up to!  x

Day 39 - Moonlight Cat

Retrospective Casanova

Retrospective posting is pretty hard.

I'm pretty sure this was another long day, the BF was quite hungover from the previous nights activities and we had his family round for dinner so we had a lot of cleaning to do before they got here.  It was also move in day for Miss A, she got to move her bed into her new room and then show everyone all her things.

As with any busy day, photos got forgotten until well into the night.  Cas, being Cas, wanted to play before bed. Luckily not for too long and I got this nice photo of him before it was time for some sleep.

Day 38 - Aftermath

Post House Warming Party - Approx 3am...Feb

As it always is when you're having too much fun, I'd realised on my way to bed in my inebriated state that I had forgotten to take a photo for the day.  Raced downstairs trying not to wake any of the sleeping drunks, I tried to figure out what to take a photo of. This was the remains of the nights festivities.

Luckily most of the people hanging out at ours on this night were really good at putting their empties in the recycling, so it was just the last remaining bottles and the various food and cards left on the table.

It was a pretty decent turn out. Thanks to everyone that came!!  It was lots of fun! We should do it again sometime.

Technically this was taken on the 8th of Feb... But I'm counting it as the 38th day since I hadn't gone to bed yet.
~*~*~*~*~

So I know I have been MIA for awhile... Sorry about that!

Various things happened, internet was delayed (almost 3 weeks without internet!!!),  I got busy, I'm also lazy... Basically Life got in the way. But I'm Back and rearing to go! Theres about 20 odd photos I gotta post. I think I might do it over a couple of days.

You will also notice that I'm starting to adjust the blogpost dates, this is to help me figure out what day I'm up to. Hope you don't mind :)

Day 37 - Newspaper

The remnants of our move.

Who has experienced the joys of unboxing the valuables and throwing that newspaper on the floor?

This was what the house (both houses) have been covered in the last couple of days.  Lots and lots of rolled up, scrunched up or torn bits of newspaper!

In its own way its been a lot of fun, Cas has certainly enjoyed the 'new' toys to play with.

I'll be even happier when it is all finally out of the house!

Taken on the 6th of Feb.

Day 36 - Shadow Cat

Casanova

Today we were starting to unpack/set-up my computer/crafts room.  It took me this long to decide this was the room I was claiming as mine.

We were putting together my Ikea Expedit shelving unit and I thought all the lines in the room when it was still on the ground would make quite a nice photo.  The BF also thought that it would be quite neat to have Cas popping out from one of the cubbies, so we tried to entice him into the photo. As you can imagine, that didn't really work too well.

I did get quite a cute one of him in one of the middle cubbies, but I quite like this one where he was running across the edge of the unit.  This was a lot of fun trying to get him involved.

Taken on the 5th of Feb

Day 35 - Round and Stringy

Casanova's Toy

After another day of unpacking some more and trying to figure out where things would go, I snapped this quick black and white shot of Casanovas toy from his cat tree.

I like the contrast on the ball, with the black and white string being all over the place and kind of merging between the layers.

Taken on the 4th of Feb, unfortunately I'm still without internet at home, so will be uploading as much as I can to keep up from work, but I'm several days behind.... I also haven't been posting on reddit! I'll try and back date those too.

Day 34 - Dots

Dots on a Duvet

A couple of friends popped round after work to see the new place. Took them on some little tours and played a game of Dominion. Ate some awesome wedges. (THANK YOU!).

By the time it got dark I was ready for bed! Beyond ready for bed! All I really wanted to do was curl into bed with my duvet (bedspread, doona, etc), and that is exactly what I did!  Snuggled in for the night after what felt like a long day.

I love this duvet, it is so nice to snuggle into and I love the red and white polka dots.

Day 33 - Blur

Cat Chase Blur

New House!! Exciting!

2nd of Feb, the day of the move! First one to move was the cat.  Casanova got put into the his cage and had a 'nice' ride to the new house with the first load of stuff.  It was early in the morning but he didn't complain too much during the trip.

4 van trips, boxes galore and a glass of wine later, we were finally done for the night.

We were lying on the couch, letting Cas explore the lounge and I thought I would try and get some photos of him in the new place. He started running around like a crazy after some rolled up bits of newspaper.  He loves skidding around on the tiles, used to love the kitchen in the old apartment because he could skid around.

Got this shot before I put the shutter speed up, I actually really like the blur. I might try something like this again, but take it where there isn't that glare on the tiles.

Day 32 - Odds and Ends

The things lying around the house.

This was taken on the 1st of February.  Our final day with everything still in the old apartment.  We were pretty behind with our packing and everything was a mess.  I was tired and uninspired, not sure of what to take a photo of.

I thought I would play around with the focus and came out with this.  Not sure what it is about it, but yeah. I like it.

Newspaper and a little yellow ball. How about that.
